James Franz, DO
Dr. James Franz, DO, is the medical director of JDV Med Spa, which has locations in Canton and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He brings his expertise and commitment to the highest quality of aesthetic servies to the practice. He specializes in PicoSureⓇ laser tattoo removal, the Picofacial, and is an expert Elite Plus laser provider. He is also trained and certified by Scition to operate the Joule Halo/BBL laser.
Dr. Franz is a board-certified family practice physician and a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He’s a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the American Medical Directors Association, and he’s a Silver Level member of the Internal Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine.
Born and raised in Ohio, Dr. Franz is a Canton native and well-respected in the area. He played football growing up, and was inducted into his high school’s Athletic Hall of Fame for his successes both on and off the field.

Matthew Phillips
Matt Phillips is the VP and Operations Manager at JDV Medspa. He handles all facets of the day to day operations, along with the back end of the business. He came on board full time to run JDV in 2020.
He specializes in business mamagement, with an extensive background in owning and running businesses in the past. He was the President and Chief Operating Officer for a commercial construction management company that he grew to over 70 employees in less than 5 years. He has provided business consultation services to many other companies, including other medical spas.
He provides a calm, structured atmosphere for all of our patients on a daily basis, along with his consistent approach to managing and assisting our team. If you get a radio voice on the phone, you know who it is.

Journeyman Mason- not only can he assist you in your aesthetic goals, he can build you a tricked out fireplace. Loves fishing, he has spent his life’s savings on fishing equipment/boats and never catches anything. His motto- “Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained” Yes, he gets facial injections too!
Theresa Phillips, BSN, RN
Theresa Phillips, BSN, RN, is the President of JDV Med Spa Medical Spa and the lead aesthetic injector/trainer on staff. The practice has state-of-the-art facilities in Canton and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Theresa graduated Summa Cum Laude from nursing school and has been a passionate nurse for the last 20 + years. She has been an aesthetic injector since 2015.
Theresa has received advanced training from injectors around the country through Allergan, Galderma, and Merz. She has attended many private trainings and prides herself in constantly learning. Some of the trainings include:

Abbey Medley, CNP
Abbey is a Certified Nurse Practitioner at JDV Med Spa Medical Spa, with locations in Canton and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Abbey brings over a decade of experience in the nursing profession, having graduated from Chamberlain University in 2011 and subsequently earning her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Chamberlain in 2022 with Summa Cum Laude honors. Specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Abbey’s background includes providing care for neonates in the NICU at prestigious Magnet Status hospitals.
Since obtaining her Master’s degree, Abbey has dedicated her career to aesthetics, focusing on injectables and laser procedures. She has undergone comprehensive training in all facets of aesthetics, including personalized instruction from Dr. Franz on Cynosure lasers, and Jackie Smith, CNP on Halo/BBL. Abbey holds Certificates of Achievements in Laser Science and Laser Safety from Cynosure, and is certified by Scition to operate the Joule Halo/BBL laser. Additionally, she has received advanced training in filler, neuromodulators, and Sculptra from Galderma GAIN trainers. Abbey is available at both our Canton and Cuyahoga Falls locations.
In her personal life, Abbey loves to travel with her husband and dog (Phoebe), exercise, and flip/decorate homes.
Kelly Melton, CNP
Kelly Melton is Certified Nurse Practitioner at JDV Med Spa Medical Spa in Canton, Ohio. Kelly graduated from Ohio University in 2009 with her Master of Science in Nursing specilaizing in Adult Geriatrics. Kelly has had 5 years of experience in various hospital settings as a Nurse Practitioner, and has been at JDV Medspa since 2020 specializing in aesthetics.
Kelly has been trained personally by Dr. Franz on Cynosure lasers. She has Certicicates of Achievements from Cynosure in Laser Science and Laser Saftey. she has been trained by Cynosure to perform lasers. Kelly has recieved advanced Galderma training for injectables such as fillers and Dysport. She has a Master Expert Series Program Certificate from Allergan advanced training.

Erica Costine, BSN, RN
Erica Costine graduated from Kent State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. Has practiced as a registered nurse for 8 years. In the hospital she was nominated for a Daisy award for her skillful and compassionate care.
She started working in aesthetics in 2021. She is highly trained and specializes in all injectables, smooth threads, microneedling, and chemical peels. She enjoys working in aesthetics because she loves helping her clients feel more confident in their skin. She loves being able to express her artistic side at JDV. Whether it be with injectables or content creation.
Fun facts about Erica She is married with a one year old boy She has a 7 year old cockapoo named Navi. Named from her favorite video game, the Legend of Zelda. Her favorite holiday is Halloween She is a skin care and make-up junkie She LOVES spicy food.
Julie Burns
Office Manager
Julie Burns is a local Perry graduate and a certified Nanny, she graduated from English Nanny and Governess school in Chagrin Falls in 2005. Julie worked for multiple families until she realized her passion was in the medical field.
Julie has been a long time, dedicated employee since 2015 at JDV Medspa. Julie prides herself in her excellent customer service skills. Her best qualities of knowledge, communication, and great attitude shine through with each interaction.
When she’s not working, Julie can be found traveling with her family and on the softball fields cheering on her daughter, and going on nature walks with her golden doodle.
Angelina Leas

Angelina attends Kent State University majoring in Business Management. Angelina is mainly found working at the Cuyahoga Falls location. She takes great pride in making the customers experience a positive one from the moment they walk in the door. Her sweet, gentle, and helpful disposition makes everyone feel at home.

Lizzie Krajekain
Patient Care Coordinator
Lizzie is a Kent State nursing student and skincare specialist with a passion for both the medical science of aesthetics and skincare. Lizzie is currently pursuing her BSN degree, bringing a blend of expertise to JDV by combining medical knowledge with a deep understanding of skincare.
With her continuing medical education and experience, Lizzie participates in medical service trips to the Middle East, and South and Central America. These trips have provided her with hands-on experience in diverse healthcare settings, where she assists directly in surgeries and various healthcare activities. Lizzie’s commitment to healthcare extends beyond borders, allowing her to contribute to communities in need while continuously enhancing her skills and knowledge.
She is dedicated to providing the highest quality care and assistance, while sharing her insights on skincare at JDV Medspa and her comprehensive skincare reviews.
Fun facts: Loves all things pink, and grew up with turkeys and horses. Lizzie was a competitive figure skater and competed nationally but now prefers to spend time golfing and fishing with friends, and also spending too much money shopping.
